My Addiction Runs Deep.

my addiction runs deep
thrusts anxious through my veins
coursing bursts of
thirsty thoughts…

my addiction runs deep.

it calls my name,
fearing I’ll forget it’s voice
softly whispering
talks of what I want…

my addiction runs deep.

taunts with memories of faces
glimpses of moments
where time stands still
frozen in animalistic appetites…

my addiction runs deep…

and it threatens to cut even deeper
unless I get it in check.

  1. I like how you personify addiction and give it seductive powers. The poem is very personal, while also being open enough to allow others to interpret it with their own “addiction”.
